KNOW
THE GAME

Futsal is not
indoor soccer.

Different court.
Different ball.
Different restarts.
Different demands.

Here's why the game develops faster thinking, cleaner technique and players who are comfortable under pressure.

01WHAT IS FUTSAL?

Futsal is five-a-side football — goalkeeper included — played on a smaller court with a low-bounce ball and no walls.

The ball goes out.The game restarts. The space stays tight.Everybody is involved.

Less room creates more decisions.

Five-a-side includes the goalkeeper.

02THE COURT

Every line on the floor changes how the game is played.

01

PENALTY AREA

The curved area in front of each goal. Defines goalkeeper handling and penalty offences.

03THE BALL

Futsal uses a smaller, low-bounce ball designed to stay closer to the floor.

The reduced bounce supports control and quick combination play. It still bounces — just far less than an outdoor ball.

06HOW THE GAME MOVES

Space is created, not found.

  • ROTATION

Players trade positions to keep the shape moving.

  • SUPPORT

Always an option behind and beside the ball.

  • WIDTH

Stretch the court to open the middle.

  • DEPTH

Someone high, someone deep — never one flat line.

  • THIRD PLAYER

The runner who benefits from the first two touches.

  • CREATING SPACE

Move to empty an area, then attack it.

  • PLAYING UNDER PRESSURE

    Protect, turn, release — fast.

  • TRANSITION

The moment the ball changes hands decides most goals.

09FORMATIONS

Shapes to start from, not places to stand.

GOLEIROFIXOALAALAPIVÔ

WHAT IT CREATES

Three players underneath one advanced pivot. Creates a reference player high while keeping support behind the ball.

WHAT PLAYERS HAVE TO RECOGNIZE

When to play into the pivot, when to rotate a wide player past them, and who covers if possession is lost.

SHAPES TO START FROM — NOT PLACES TO STAND

10WHERE IT CAME FROM

History first. Inspiration second.

Modern futsal traces its origins to Montevideo, Uruguay in the early 1930s.

Brazil became enormously influential in the game's growth, style and development.

Futsal later became deeply embedded across South America, Europe and other parts of the football world.
